A Season of Magic and Color

Every year, as summer waves goodbye, Gilgit-Baltistan welcomes the most enchanting season of all — autumn. From late September to mid-November, the region transforms into a golden paradise. The lush green valleys turn into a mesmerizing blend of red, orange, and yellow hues, creating a scene so beautiful that words can barely capture it.

This is the time when the mighty Karakoram Mountains stand proudly behind valleys draped in color, and the cool, crisp air carries the fragrance of ripened fruits and fallen leaves. Autumn in Gilgit-Baltistan is not just a season — it’s an experience that touches the soul.

Hunza – The Crown of Autumn

In autumn, Hunza Valley becomes the jewel of Northern Pakistan. The apricot, apple, and poplar trees paint the entire valley in warm, golden tones. From Eagle’s Nest Viewpoint, you can witness one of the most iconic scenes in Pakistan — snow-dusted peaks like Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar rising above a sea of fiery-colored trees.

Walk through the charming streets of Karimabad, visit Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, or simply relax with a cup of local apricot tea while watching the sunset over the mountains. Every corner of Hunza in autumn feels like a living postcard.

Skardu – The Golden Mirror of the North

Further east lies Skardu, a land of tranquil lakes and towering peaks. During autumn, Shangrila Resort, Lower Kachura Lake, and Shigar Valley turn into dreamlike landscapes where the reflection of golden trees dances on still waters.

The mighty Indus River flows calmly, surrounded by glowing poplar trees, and the crisp mountain breeze makes it the perfect time for trekking, photography, and cultural exploration. From Khaplu to Katpana Desert, the entire region becomes a photographer’s paradise.
